Human Rights Defender | Journalist | Social Activist | Dalit Rights Advocate
Rem Bahadur BK is a nationally and internationally recognized human rights defender, journalist, social activist, and advocate for equality, inclusion, and social justice. Born in Palpa District, Nepal, he has dedicated more than two decades to fighting caste-based discrimination, promoting Dalit rights, advancing inclusive media, and empowering marginalized communities through advocacy, education, and public engagement.
He currently serves as the Chairperson of the Jagaran Media Center and has held numerous leadership roles in national and international organizations working in the fields of human rights, democracy, peacebuilding, media development, social inclusion, and community empowerment. Through his work, he has trained journalists, led social movements, contributed to policy reforms, and amplified the voices of vulnerable communities across Nepal and beyond.
A strong believer in the power of media as a tool for social transformation, Rem Bahadur BK has written extensively on human rights, social justice, democracy, and inclusion. He has represented Nepal in international conferences, workshops, and policy dialogues across Asia, Europe, Australia, and North America, advocating for dignity, equality, and opportunities for all.
His outstanding contributions have earned him several national and international recognitions, including the National Social Service Award from the Government of Nepal, the Ambedkar Kalashree National Award, and the Australian Leadership Award. Throughout his journey, he has remained committed to building a society free from discrimination, where every individual can live with dignity, respect, and equal opportunity.
