Punyawati Ramtel is a dedicated community leader, social service professional, and advocate with more than two decades of experience serving diverse communities in Nepal and the United States. Her work focuses on community outreach, immigrant support services, women’s empowerment, housing resource navigation, client advocacy, and nonprofit program development.
Throughout her career, Punyawati has worked closely with community members, government agencies, nonprofit organizations, and local stakeholders to help individuals and families access critical resources, overcome barriers, and achieve greater self-sufficiency. She has extensive experience conducting community outreach, facilitating workshops, coordinating programs, supporting client intake and referrals, and connecting underserved populations with housing, educational, healthcare, and social service resources.
Currently, Punyawati serves as a Community Trainer and Steering Committee Member with Adhikaar in New York, where she provides training and support to immigrant communities, educates families on childcare and community resources, and promotes awareness around social issues affecting marginalized populations. Her leadership helps strengthen community engagement and build pathways for immigrants to access essential services.
Prior to her work in the United States, Punyawati held key leadership positions with the Feminist Dalit Organization, serving both as National Secretary and District President. In these roles, she coordinated programs across multiple districts, led advocacy campaigns, collaborated with government agencies, and championed women’s rights, social inclusion, and community development initiatives.
Her professional background also includes experience as a Social Mobilizer with STEP Nepal and as a Supervisor with Educate the Children, where she supported literacy programs, community education projects, outreach initiatives, and capacity-building activities.
